Happy Fan Art Friday Everyone! Today I'll be showing you three fan arts. All of these fan arts are all in colouring pencils also I thought that it would be interesting to show these characters in child-form.
The first one is of Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, Ponyo and Chihiro from Spirited Away. All of them were written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The first one I saw was Spirited Away. The DVD was a birthday gift from a very good friend of mine. It's probably movie that I haven't gotten tired of. The music is brilliant too. Kiki's Delivery Serivce was another movie that I really enjoyed too. This movie made me smile and it made me wonder what if a postman or post-lady used a alternative vehicle which is smiliar to Kiki's one to deliver the post? I think that would be interesting. I have yet to see Ponyo but I will definitely watch it.:
The next fan art is of Kaoru from the anime and manga Rurouni Kenshin by Nobuhiro Watsuki. I first came across this series when I was either 17 or 18. It was another manga that I found at my local library and I loved and adored the story. I was fascinated of the concept of how it was set during the past of Japan. In this case it was the Meiji Period. Kaoru is a teacher of a kendo school and she and her family have a long history of a particular Kendo technique that can be only taught. At some point she bumps into Kenshin. I can't say what happens you'll have to read the manga to find out. The anime was impressive too. I watched most of the episodes up to a certain point. This was due to the fact that some of the plot was not corresponding to the manga. Back then I had read so much of this series as a manha that I assumed that it would be the same thing in the anime. Today, I realise that maybe this was done because at the time when the anime was released the manga was still being released. I got roughly a couple of volumes to finish the manga. I'm on the last arc of the series and I'm loving it so far:
The third and final art for today is of Subaru and Hokuto from the manga Tokyo Babylon by CLAMP. Both of them are twins. This was another manga that I found at my library. I was in university when I read this series and It's a favourite of mine. It left me with a lasting impression on how I viewed one of the characters of the story. Although it has been a while since I've read this series I remember the plot very well. This manga made me admire CLAMP a whole lot more. In the manga both of these characters are teenagers. Plus the purple thing that I made in the background was something that I created out of my head. Looking at this drawing I've realised that it could be a hint of a foreshadow. In the story. PLEASE read this manga. It's really great. :) :
There will be more fan art next week. Thank you for visiting my blog and please leave a comment. Enjoy your weekend everyone! ;)

Manga Jiman 2014 (Part 1): Stacey's Crush
Greetings everyone! Today, I'll be showing you my latest project that I'm working on other than my web-comic. This is post will be about the comic that I'll be entering for this year's Manga Jiman Competition. It is held by the Japanese Embassy in London. This year's theme is "Once in a lifetime meeting" or "Once in a life-time encounter". In Japanese it is "一期一会" . On the day I found out about this year's theme I got started on working on the story. Surprisingly, I wrote two stories based on this theme and hopefully if I have time to complete them in comic form I might enter them for the competition.
The first comic is about a girl in her late twenties called Stacey and her ordeals during her job. The story is based on something that I went through sometime last year during the month of July. I have been hoping to write this story since last year. Some part of it is real and the rest is is fiction. When I began the initial sketches of Stacey, I thought of what she could wear in the comic as well as her hairstyle. The chosen hairstyle is based on the 80's musician Bette Midler. I really liked her hair style in this video and I thought I'd pay hommage to her by using it. :):
This next page is of Stacey's facial expressions.:
The next character designs are based on her friend Leanne. I decided to go for the fouth character sketch because. I yearned for something simple. The clothes that she is wearing will be what she and Stacey will be wear in the comic:
Here are the facial expressions of Leanne. The middle facial expresssion was the one I found very appealing:
The final character to this story is of Stacey's Crush. Unfortunatley he doesn't have a name. I chose to leave him anonymous. This is because I felt that only this is necessary since the comic will be only way of how he would be visualised. These are the sketches of how he is visualised. For hairstyles depicted in this drawing I looked at current hairstyles for men of this year.:
For the facial expressions, I decided to make him a older. So far it look pretty good. I'm quite impressed with the chibi character on the bottom right.:
Currently, I've finished the comic in pencil and in ink. I will be working on adding screen-tones from today and the rest of the week. There will be another post about the second Manga Jiman entry that I'll be entering too. For anyone who is living in the UK, you can also enter this competition too. Have a look at the website by clicking here. Give it a go! Thank you for visiting my blog and please leave a comment. :)

Fan Art Friday: Cubix by Cinepix and Flying House produced by Tatsunoko Productions
Happy Fan Art Friday Everyone! Today I'll be showing two fan arts. Both of them were cartoons that I spotted and watched during my teens. Both of them were very interesting and very fun to watch. Also they continue the theme of clouds that were created for the same drawings last week.
The first fan art is of the cartoon Cubix. This show I found very interesting. A town with robots and people seemed quite good. It isn't the first time that I've seen a cartoon that is in 3-D. I was quite intrigued with the plot. I'm quite impressed of how this drawing came out:
The second and final fan art for today is of Flying House which was produced by Tatsunoko Productions. I spotted this cartoon before I went to school. This was another show that interested me. The idea that a house can fly into different time periods seemed pretty awesome. In this case it was Bible times. Plus when ever these characters assumed that they were home they soon realised that they were stuck in another time period. I never did find out if they made it home. I'm sure they probably did.:

Fan Art Friday: Genie from Aladdin, My Neighbour Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki & Ozzy & Drix by Marc Hyman, Peter Farrelly, & Bobby Farrelly
Happy Fan Art Friday Everyone! Today I will be posting three fan arts. Three of them are cartoons and movies. They were all changed and modified on Photoshop. Plus all of these drawings have a background of clouds. I thought it would be great if each drawing had this theme.
The first fan art is of Genie from the Disney movie Aladdin. I thought I'd pay hommage to Robin Williams who passed away this week. This left me quite gutted and I felt the need to do this drawing. As most of you know he was the voice of Genie. He was absolutely hilarious in this movie. Aladdin has been a favourite Disney film of mine when I was a kid. Making this fan art gave me memories of when I use to watch the movie:
The next drawing is of Ozzy and Drix which was developed by Marc Hyman. The original concept was based also by Marc Hyman, Peter Farrelly, & Bobby Farrelly. This was another show that I watched during my teens. I loved it. The episodes were not only enjoyable but also it gave me an understanding as to how the human body works but in an interesting way. I was always gutted when the episode finished. I really yearned to watch more. The episode that appealed to me the most was the very first one. It left me very intrigued:
The third fan art is of My Neighbour Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. This movie is really really good and I felt that it would be really good that I make a fan art based on it. I stumbled on this movie when I got Howl's Moving Castle on DVD from my local library. I was very intrigued. I watched and I though it was really awesome. Totoro is definitely a character that I would love to cuddle. He seemed so real. He looks a little different here in this drawing but this didn't bother me that much. I thought I'd include the main characters Mei and Satsuki. But as chibi:

Object and Fashion Sketches from the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A)
Good Morning Everyone! Today I'll be posting some new drawing that I drew at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The sketches that I created were from objects that were placed in different areas of the Museum. Some of these objects were from Korea and Asia. As for the fashion. They date back to the Regency, 1950's and the 1970's. I hope you like them:
I will be making more so I can compile them as part of the daily drawings that I've created for the past four months.

Fan Art Friday: Haru from The Cat Returns by Aoi Hiiragi & diredcted by Hiroyuki Morita
Happy Friday Everyone! Today I'll be posting another fan art today. Today's fan art is based on the the company Studio Ghibli. I thought that it would be great that I will do another because so far this the second fan art that I've made from this company. To see the first one click here.
The fan art is of the main protagonist Haru from the movie The Cat Returns. It was directed by Hiroyuki Morita. This was the third movie that I watched after watching Spirited Away and it was a movie that was recommended by my friend when I was at university. I decided to buy the DVD and watch it and I really really enjoyed it. The music too was quite impressive and I adored the Baron in this movie. At some point I will draw him. There is also a manga of this movie too. It was written by Aoi Hiiragi. I think I still have a copy somewhere in my house.( ^_^) I hope you like the drawing:
There will be more Studio Ghibli drawings that I will create throughout this month and hopefully into the first week of September. There will be more fan art next week. Thanks for visiting my blog and please leave a comment. The will be a new post on Monday of some sketches of objects that I did sometime this week. Please look out for it.

Fan Art Friday: Egyptian Queen Drawing
Happy August and Happy Fan Art Friday Everyone. Today I thought I'd share a very old fan art drawing that I created back in 2011. This drawing was something that I created quite random as I was using coloured inks, back then. Although not much of my drawings has changed. I thought that it would be interesting to show this. I thought I'd draw something based from Egypt. The name of the drawing is called Egyptian Queen. Although she doesn't look like one this was what I named her when I scan and saved the drawing. I guess she looks more like a servant.
(In case you seen this picture on my blog before I do apologise. (^_^;)
There will be more fan art next week. Thank you for visiting my blog and please write a comment.
